1. Watch television and films in English

Watching your favourite films in English is a great way to learn more English. If you are a beginner, it’s worth putting the English subtitles on so that you can read along and listen at the same time.

2. Read English books

Reading is a great way of practising your English in your own pace. If you are a beginner, pick up a children’s book where the language will be easier than an adult book.

3. Surround yourself with English speakers

Once you are over in the UK, don’t socialise only with people from your home country, talk with local people and make sure you speak as much English as possible.

4. Practice talking to yourself

Talking to yourself might feel a little bit silly at first but there is no pressure to be perfect and nobody will hear your mistakes.

5. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes

Everyone will make mistakes when first learning a new skill so don’t worry. Practice and learn from your mistakes - the more English you use, the better you will be at it.
